35 inch spare tire?
35 inch spare tire?
I work at a tire shop and today someone traded in a set of 35x12.5 R18 mud terrains. They have nearly zero tread life left, but they're not bald. My boss told me that I could take them for $1. I have 35s on my 2006 f150 now and I was wondering if it would be a good idea to use one of these as a spare tire so i have a full size spare.
Does anybody know if I can put this in the stock location under the bed? I know the new raptors have full size spares under the bed, but I don't know if its different from a 2006.

Yes it's a great idea to have them. I have a spare 38 in my bed just in case. You can at least get around for a few days while you fix or replace your original tire. I don't think it'll fit under the truck though, but not sure. I know my 38s won't fit! For $1 it's a great deal. Better than driving on the rim or paying for a wrecker if you get a flat.

Either way take them and mount one and at least keep it in the bed. I have a 35" spare and it really came in handy when my tire went flat. Even though it's practiaclly bald on the inside due to bad alignment but that's what you get for free.
There's an older thread (it might be in the "Wheel Tire" forum so do a search) where a member has a 35" mounted in the spare location, under the truck. It fits fine. You're quite lucky to get a good 35" for a spare, especially for a buck! I am doing a road trip in late May and I am searching for a 35" spare as well. I hope to find one soon...
Hey, post back if you get it to fit in the stock location.

I was able to get it to fit up there. It is VERY tight, but it works. Not interfering with anything. Will post pics tomorrow, unexpected Oklahoma rain storm kept me from taking any pics today. Definitely worth a dollar to save my differential if I ever have a flat.
