Do I need a new hood?
I would get a new one if it was mine. That's what insurance is for. If you only have liability a good body man probably can, but I'd still buy a new or junk yard hood and get it PTM. That's creased pretty good.
Or you could one of these onto it.

Getting a replacement hood would be easier and maybe more cost effective. Probably a good idea to repaint the whole truck since there are lots of scratches, dings and dents. Do you know if it loses resale value if the truck is repainted? I thought I read something on KBB that it does.
Those dents could be pulled out, and fixed with a bit of body work. It would probably be easier to pick up a replacement hood though. If it is going through insurance then I would let them worry about it.
I dont know whether or not getting things repainted would mess up the re-sale value, but I know getting in a wreck does.

your hood is made of aluminum. it's not quite as easy to work with as a steel hood. the aluminum tends to brittle fracture and will fight you to get it back into shape.
for the price of a OEM hood, you can grab a nice cowl hood from the aftermarket

i think i would go aftermarket for a hood. and hopefully end up with one that solid and does'nt look like it could fly off when going down the hiway on a windy day. aren't aluminum hoods great. i wonder how much weight they save by not using steel.
