Well may be trying to get my truck totalled out
Okay guys and gals....last October (2009) was involved in a rear end collision where a lady rear ended me (her fault her insurance covered the $11000 bill). Her Audi A6 was totalled and she hit me so hard her car went clear under my truck, bent my rear end (which the whole rear end assembly was replaced), got me a new bumper, tailgate, bedside, suspension, etc. Upon receiving my truck a few weeks after it went into the shop, all was well, no unusual signs of wreckage or anything being mis-aligned. Tires wearing evenly, alignment staying spot on, etc. I was worried about the transmission since she bent my rear end and I would have thought that the driveshaft would have been pushed into the tranny causing more problems but apparently not.
Fast fwd to last week and I started developing a loud whine coming from the rear end. Check the whole truck over and realize I have a slow leak coming from the seal at the top of the differential cover.
So why should a 6 or so month old rear end be whining and leaking?
I'm calling the dealership in the morning that fixed the truck and letting them know whats going on. They tried to do everything possible to total it since wrecked vehicles are never the same again but couldn't. I have a relative high up in the company that owns this dealership so they were working hand in hand with the dealership to make sure it was all fixed properly. Could they have missed something?
The only things I can think of contributing to a 6 month old rear end doing what it's doing is either it arrived from the factory messed up OR the frame is slightly tweak or drive train is out of balance/alignment. If that is the case what are my options at this point? Transmission is still shifting fine, motor is running great, and like I said tires are wearing fine, along w/ tracking straight.
They said to total the truck it'd have to reach $17K in damages/repairs....I was $6K shy....but with this new mishap I'm wondering how hard I can hassle the insurance companies and Ford to just total this out. I'm just afraid they'll replace the rear end and then 6 months later or sooner or later have the same thing happen, or more problems down the road.

I think you may have just gotten a bad rear end, it happens. Did they give some kind of warranty on the new parts? If they did and its still valid, have them fix it on their dime. If its just a whine, I don't think they will replace it again, they'll just fix it.
yep it does have a warranty...and IIRC (gotta find the paperwork) it's a 30K mile 3 yr warranty. I really want this to get fixed right b/c I love my effin truck....but just don't want more and more problems showing up or be going through rear ends every half year lol. I'm hoping it's just a bad rear end like you said....cuz I was just getting ready to start modding the truck....but no need to dump mod money into this til we figure out whats wrong with it.
