So i got a couple codes pulled, what now?

I have an 05 f150 5.4 with 135k, stock plugs. it started missing going up hills so i went to auto zone and they hooked it up. The handheld said #8 misfire and lean bank 2. What do you guys recommend? I looked up global industries on ebay to get a COP to replace #8 but i dont know what to do about lean bank 2. Thanks!

You wouldn't happen to have a cold air intake would you?

could be a bad O2 sensor causing the lean code

I had a lean bank two and stumbling on load as well After doing everything I possibly could think of (plugs, cops, clean MAF/TB, Gotts, K&N Drop in, motorcraft fuel filter, fuel pressure ok, oil levels fine, Edge Evo level 2) I took it into to dealership for a diagnostic. Turns out it was plugged cats. After cutting out all cats, truck runs like a champ now! Of course, I had to tune the sound, so I went with Cherry Bomb glasspack followed by a dynomax superturbo.

If you have 135k on the original plugs, you are way overdue for a change. Do that first. Also, clean your MAF, oiled air filters have a tendency to foul them. The 3V cops seldom go bad.

FYI, when you are pulling codes, please post the exact P-number, not Autozone's verbal interpretation.

It sounded loud as hell! Too loud for my taste! My '04 had 4 cats. The dealership said the front two cats are resonators and the rear two were the cats.

The muffler shop said the fron were plugged, so he cut them all out and rewelded the o2 bungs. I tried to use Dynomax Superturbos to calm the noise, but I got a bapbapbapbap sound at 1900-2100 rpm. Very annoying. I fixed it by putting a cherry bomb glasspack in front of the dynomax.

So, I cleaned the MAF and switched the #8 and #5 coil to see if i could get a misfire code on #5 and low and behold, my truck is running GREAT! I bought some injector cleaner just for good measure. New tires will be here tomorrow. Might have to wash it up good after i put them on. Man, i feel like i just bought a new truck! Thanks F150online!

yea, me too. I know I'm not out of the woods yet, but at least it will let me get a few more miles out of the plugs. By the time i get them changed the Ford mechanics should have the process figured out pretty good. At least thats what i hope.

BTW, i put a half of a can of seafoam i my tank. It had about 3-4 gallons left when I put it in. I figured the higher concentration would work better. I drove about 60 miles this morning and it is running awesome. No studdering going up hills and when I nail it, it pulls like a beast up to 5k. A couple days ago i went to pass a few vehicles on a 2 lane and it felt like it was running on 7 cylinders, then 4, then 8. It was cutting in and out and thats when the engine light blinked. Anyway, thanks again!

If that's 135k on the original plugs, I recommend you get a BG or Motorvac job done before trying to change them! If it keeps just one plug from breaking it will pay for itself.
