I HATE you all!!

Let me start off by telling you all a story.

Once there was a young man who went out shopping for a truck. After debating and visiting Chevy, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota, and Ford, he decided to by a slightly used 2007 F-150 STX in dark blue. This was a departure for him since his previous truck was a dodge and he put 150K on it and only had to replace a water pump. Call it a leap of faith.

Now he had just finished grad school and was poor as a sailor the day after shore leave, so he didnt have much to spend on his new toy, so get got a drop in K&N and eventually put on a SIDO magnaflow. Not much, but he liked it.

The more and more he drove his truck, the more he started to fall in love. Then, glorious day! A new, better paying job, that was closer to his house so he starts to think now he will have more money in the bank :rocker:

HOWEVER, a myserious woman from his past shows up, in all her glory. This sultry dark haired seductress works her way into his life and there goes the extra cash.

One day he notices that his beloved truck has started to shake when braking at high speeds. He jumps on the internet to find a problem. Stumbling upon f150online.com, he finds his solution. Warped rotors. And his life (and wallet) would never be the same....... (stay tuned, more to come, with pictures!!)

I would be considered pretty well-off for a college student if it weren't for this website (well, I am currently a co-op, and $$$ is good haha). Instead, perpetually broke describes me better!

Now this young man has always liked to turn a wrench, but never been particularly skilled at it, but enjoys it none the less. So after finding f150online.com, he starts reading some posts about this and that. He discovers wise sages like tarajarme, rockpick, and MGDfan, but he still is thinking there is not too much he can do to his truck since, due to price constraints and the fact that it would be driven almost every day, it only has a V6, and he doesnt want to sink a whole lot of money into it.

But then he reads about the Gott's mod. Hmm, he thinks, this is easy, cheap, and hell, if it doesnt do anything, he is out $15. Worth the risk. And when he put in the drop in filter and exhaust, it sounded good and helped out the mpgs a little
https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...nal-instal.jpg
Wow, there is a little more pickup and go, a little better throttle response and if nothing else, a great $/effect ratio. So, he thinks, I wonder if there is anything else like that that I can find on this site that is fairly cheap and will help out. Maybe I can fine $100 or so to spend on my truck......

thejake1989 04-02-2010 12:14 PM

join the club man haha this site has gotten me to spend way more money than i had set out to

FlashmasterK 04-02-2010 12:25 PM

So finally after years of complacency, willing to drive his almost stock truck day in and day out, he starts on his new odyessy to make it his truck.

So starting on his search he finds something called a "leveling kit." Hmm, about $70, thats within his price range, and the trucks that have his look pretty damn good. Maybe on the next pay check.......

But then, MAGICAL DAY!! The final four rolls into town. Now this young man attended baylor university in waco, tx, which has never been known for its mens sports. Hell, eight years ago a member of the basketball team shot another player. Living in Houston, he has made friends with aggies and longhorns, and has suffered the taunts for years. So he makes a few small wagers. He bets his longhorn friends that UT wont make it out of the first round, SUCCESS!! He bets his aggie friends that baylor will make it farther than A&M, SUCCESS!!! The cash starts coming it.

Now momma didnt raise no fool, he keeps his booty to himself and doesnt make mention of this to the dark haired seductress (who doesnt ever read this forum, thank god!). So the level kit is ordered, and installed!

I must be a backwards Canadian

HA! Broker than a sailor after shore leave!! I am going to use that one!!!

I must be doing something wrong as this site has SAVED me money.

The clutch packs 3 dealers said needed to be changed.

a free way to "cut"a 3rd key

Motor mounts that where supposed to make my beast idle smoother

Katzskins Leather which 2 shops here said around 2k installed and here I got a link to a online dealer AND a Motorz video even showing me how to install them saving me over 1200 bucks

A source of reference so I can walk into a shop/dealer and tell THEM what's

's up as a result of what I gleaned from this site ( priceless by the way)

If this keeps up, I can trade on my 06 screw on a 2010 later this year!!!

Thanks to all those who have helped!!! I will be faxing out Canadian Beer to y'all shortly :D

So now what? Truck is looking better, and he is loving the more aggressive stance, but has run into an issue. The woman is 5'0" and even though he has not told her he installed the leveling kit (did at friends house over a few beers) she is starting to become suspicious. She is having a hard time getting in and out of the truck, and has started making comments.

Hmm, maybe I can scores some points here and add something to the truck at the same time, he thinks. I know! Nerf bars! Perfect! So a quick post to help me decide which ones he wants (thanks to the contributors:bows:) and they are on their way!

In the meantime, he peruses the techincal ariticle sections and finds an interesting article by Blackf150337 on a way to "blackout" your headlights for a fraction of the cost of buying new ones. WTF he thinks, Ill give it a shot.

(replies to the contributors to this thread to follow after the story)

So, being a honest young man, he wants to give something back to all those that are helping he throughout the journey and support the website that has brought us all together. While keeping this in the back of his mind he continues searching the great expanses of the forums. One memeber mentions patriot decals.

What ho!? I can get a decal with F150online.com and my handle on it for under $10, he thinks. DONE! And thanks to the wonderful people over there, custom front and back emblem overlays to boot! If you notive in the previous post, the front F150 badge is starting to do this weird two tone peeling thing.

After a few very longs days of work, our reluctant hero heads home on april 1st to find a nice large package sitting on his door step. The nerf bars have arrived! Slapped those babies on so fast that he ran out of his shoes.

Now with all these pictures taken, he gets this crazy notion in his head that the front looks just a little bit higher. He takes out tape measures and rulers and proves it to himself that it sits level, BUT he just cant shake that feeling. It just sits and festers in his head, contrary to all the science that he has built his life around, but lingers like a houseguest that doesnt know when to leave. So instead of dealing with this feeling for the rest of the beloved trucks life, he starts reading again.

Many people have drop shackles on their trucks and if that the way you want to go, it looks great. But they also make lift shackles, and they have some for $50 that will raise the truck about 1" in the rear. PERFECT! Should be here today, so he will have a weekend project!

FlashmasterK 04-02-2010 01:58 PM

So our hero tends to sway towards the right, and definately voted for the old man in the last election, but the one, and only, thing he will benifit from in this new socialist regimem is the homebuyers credit.

Now the woman is very fiscally savy and knows that he is getting some cash back, and is going to be royally, temper tantrum throwing, not getting any love for a year pissed if he puts more stuff on his truck before she gets her ring. So the debate begins. Our hero does love this woman and will probably pull that trigger before the end of the year, but he also wants the following, NOW!:

Gryphon or SCT tuner
Bull bar
UDP
Electric fans
Wheels/tires
and anything else yall can think of

SOOOOO, this is the reason for the title, because I am on here all the time and see all the cool stuff yall have done, I know what I want to do to my truck. And soon, should have the funds to do so, but cant mod the truck anymore under I promise to marry my girlfriend!!!!!!!

ps- she has promised to take a picture with the truck when its finished like a trashy low-rider magazine for my sig. Wicked
