Troubleshoot brake- please help me out..

My truck 2004 F150 FX4.

My issue- crazy shaking rear end while i was driving on highway for like 1 mile or so then it went away, not even press on brake pedal- nothing. its like out of blue!

i pulled over and checked, i could/see smell smoking from rear end brake.

I searched in here and found out its common know that rear end drum got stick or stuck caused rear end shake.

so I had a auto shop guy checked everything and said it looks good and nothing rust etc that he find to be normal. he re-adjust rear end drum E brake and lubes etc..then 5 days later...It came back again- on highway!

Today, I stopped by auto repair shop- same guy he got clueless too..told me to drop it off tomorrow to check everything..

He suggested me to get new rotors, drums since its orignial rotors all (4) and is approx 66,000 milages on it.

Advice will be GREAT!!

Thanks!
Jake

do you regularly use your ebrake? Or did you use it the times before this happened?

Could be the ebrake cable sticking.

Yeah I checked in here and mentioned to auto repair guy about it so it should be brake capliers stuck who knows !

I ordered slot rotors w hawk pads by rotorpros since mines truck rotors are original so good excuse to upgrade lol!

That's way I will chck ebrake and drums when I gets there and clean it up well and lube ebrake arms and cable too

Thanks

It's almost for certain the e-brake. You need someone who does a more thorough job of checking things out and lubing (like the cable). There are springs to pull it back when it's not on, as long as there isn't binding because of rust or broken springs or cable needing lubing.

I have the same problem. only the two taillights don't come on but the cab light does. i found out that the fuse failed so i replaced it and it worked but then found out the next day that it failed again. Does anyone know any auto repair troubleshooting in this kind of problem?
