04 Lariat Project

I want to start by saying a big THANK YOU to all you guys who have shared your vast knowledge on this site. I have spent many hours drooling at some of the best looking F150s in the land. I am kind of an old school guy, well because I am OLD. I have done the DWV intake mod and installed different tunes via my new SuperChips FlashPaq. I have already seen an increase in MPG from 12+ to 15+ and an increase in performance.

Now I guess I will give some of those gains back. My Rancho Quicklifts arrived today along with the RS9000s for the back. I bought an add-a-leaf since I haul a camper and another trailer. Neither are heavy but I noticed the camper would cause the 04 to squat when connected. My 02 FX4 would barely budge when I hooked up. I also got 3 of my tires in today from discount tire. I ordered them Monday. The last will be here Friday. I went with the BFGoodrich LT305/65R18/E All-Terrain T/A KOs which I will put on my stock rims. Man is that tire HUGE compared to the stock rubber. I hope I did not go TOO big.

I work at a Technology Center where we have two automotive programs. They start putting my grip on tomorrow. I hope to have the tires on Saturday. I will post some after pictures when done.

Thanks again for all the help guys. And do not hesitate to point out any bonehead things I have done.

Wanna share info on the camper? My lovely bride and I are looking for a slide in the F150 can handle without hurting either it, or us...

I should have said camping trailer. It is a 17' Palomino that pulls like it isn't there.

My KS hunt'n buddy has a slide in that he uses in his F250 that has the pop-up top on it. He was talking about selling it. I will ask him the details.

Installed the QuickLifts on front, Rancho 9000s on back, add-a-leafs, BFG 305/65R18s. Now all I have to do is get rid of those ugly steps and get some nice ones. If anybody wants to sell their chrome stockers, let me know. No rubbing with this setup. Thanks for all the ideas. I think it looks and drives better.

Thanks. Not all that interested in a trailer, but a pop up slide in camper. Something that doesn't weigh a ton, and provides safe and comfortable sleepage for 2. I keep toying with the idea of a shell and a simple custom mattress for the bed of the truck...

That truck looks REALLY good with that setup by the way...

Very nice set up GTH. Can you tell me more about your superchip flashpaq? I am totally new concerning tunes and would love to get some input. Did you put the same stock wheels on the new tires?? Have a good one and good luck this up coming whitetail season.

5speedsteed - PM on the way and the Quicklift gave me right at 2 inches up front, the add a leaf gave me a touch more than that on the back. I haul so some rake is fine with me. It rides great.

Sparky - I downloaded the updates as soon as I got it and have run the performance tune and the 87 octane tune. The performance caused it to shift a little harder than I liked so I am running the 87 tune now. I just set it up for the bigger tires a little bit ago. I like it a lot but it is the only tuner I have ever used. Made a big difference. If I keep my '02 FX4, I can download a tune ($190) that allows me to use the tuner on two vehicles. I have to try it on that truck to IF I keep it.

Motograter - I stressed over wheels this time but I liked the stock wheels. I don't want to worry about offset and rubbing. Maybe some day but I think the stockers look great.
