I plan on doing mine soon and the shop I use is owned by a die hard Ford guy. He goes nothing but Motorcraft parts pretty much all the time. However, when I asked what plugs they would replace mine with the answer was Champion to my surprise.

For those who used champion plugs, what did you gap them at?

Just did my plug change today at 80,000 miles. Switched them out with Champion 7989's

It took about 3 hours. Thats including clean up after accidentally pulling a coolant line by the fire wall.

I didnt use any carbon cleaner prior to pulling the plugs. Just to see what would happen.

A Can of monster, a 6 inch extension, 5/8 spark plug socket, 9/16 deep well socket, 3/8 socket wrench, and a lot of motivation was all that was used in my process.

Overall, im glad I didnt take it to ford. It would have been the biggest waste of money ever.

=)

Have an 04 F-150 with 370,000kms & have had champions in it since 220,000kms. Just changed them at 360,000kms so lasted just as long as motorcraft plugs without the hassle. Truck still original cops as well. Truck is still used to tow a 8500lb trailer & runs great.

Curious as to what the 5/8 plug socket was used for or do the 9/16 and it have something going, and they just couldn't stand to be separated?
Also, those things are kinda nasty rusty, just wondered what kind of fuel you use? You know you're gonna seriously ruin the day of the guys that did everything right and still broke half of the plugs.
