I just ordered a Mag-Hytec differential cover for $247 shipped and Im EXCITED! Any tips on install or feedback on it? Thanks!!! (I have an 08' F150)

Gonna look good, I love mine. Theres really nothing to tell, its a pretty simple installation. The Fluid is gonna run ya about $100 if you get the good stuff. Once you put that in, you wont ever have to worry about it again

 

I've been thinking about it for a while too. Today a friend of mine noticed a small leak on my diff. cover and thats all it took for me to make the purchase. I could have checked it out or taken it to the dealer since its still under warranty but thats no fun. I guess I just needed an excuse to buy one and I found one today!

 

What kind of fluid did you use?

 

I think they look sharp. I wonder how much better they are for the rear end.

 

I run Royal Purple 75-140 in mine with two bottles of friction modifier and its great. Just another piece of mind modification for me. Trans pan is next.

 

I dont remember what kind it was, It was a limited slip fluid, it was $20 a quart and with the new cover it takes 5 quarts to fill it up

 

Thanks for the fluid info. I guess while I am waiting for the cover to get here I will buy the fluid that way as soon as it arrives I can put it on!

if you have a limited slip diff put in a bottle of frictiom modifier get it from your ford dealer if you dont you will get a clutch pack chatter.

 

Installed a Mag-hytec in my '08. Pretty simply operation. Just make sure to use a torque wrench on the allen bolts and follow the instructions re the torque specs. Understand that you won't be able to get a torque wrench on the top 2 or 3 allen bolts so you'll just have to estimate the torque. Use the Ford friction modifier and some quality synthetic fluid and you're good to go. Enjoy.

 

I put one on my o7 after changing my gears pretty easy install and looks great ive been thinking about changing my transmission pan also

 

I ordered one as well. Is it worth it to get it for the front diff too?

 

As far as I know the one for the front diff wont fit due to sway bar interference. I don't think anyone has found one that fits the front yet, if you do make sure and let us know.
