Someone has to know this...

Ok I really want to adjust the doors on my truck. Problem is I cant find any info anywhere describing what to do. I'm sure someone knows. The doors are getting so bad that when I start the truck they shake pretty good. On both sides. Now the rear doors seem to be latched pretty good. Maybe its the front doors. Who knows. Anyway lets see if we can get some info flowing on this cuz theres nothing worse than going down the road and having to listen to the doors rattle away. Thanks.

50 some views and no posts....

I'll say something...

Is it the doors themselves your refering to or the door panels?

If it's the front doors, I can't see it being a problem on a newer truck but on say a 94 F150 the pin which goes through the hing of the doors tends to wear out. A new pin kit can be had for about 10 bucks.

If it's the panels... Which again on the older trucks was a problem over time. I'd check the screw in them which aren't many because of all the body clips used. If that's not it/ Look into some Dynamat and line your panels both the body panel behind the plastic door panel and the back of the plastic panel. I've got a bunch of it in my truck and it's nice and quite...

Hope this is of some help.

I've seen a post on here about a just the rubber bumpers needing to be replaced b/c they are mushroomed and not absorbing the rattles.

Take a look at the rubber bumper on the door by the latch. If this is mushroomed really bad then you should replace it with part # W705903-S300.

I did this on my truck and it eliminated the clunk noise. A cheap fix. Check it out, it might be your problem.

Ok guys. I have looked into all the considerations posted so far. Here's what I found out. After checking the door panels the front ones seem to be solid as can be. The rear door panels do have a slight amount of play towards the top but i dont think that would cause this rattle or shake. Secondly, I checked the door stops by the latch as suggested. They appear to be ok, they dont look smashed down or anything. Finally after a little opening and closing session with driver and passenger doors I found that the top latch on both back doors are solid. The bottom latches on the back doors definitely have some play. If I pull on the bottom of the back doors they move a decent amount more on the driver than passenger. Oh yeah and I did mean that doors themselves are shaking to clear up any confusion. Anyway keep the ideas coming and I'll check them out. Thanks again.

loosen the bolt that holds the catch on the rocker panel that the latch hooks on. little by little tap in and re tighten it until the door is tight. Did it on mine. By the way I do work in a body shop, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night also LOL

Hey Yellow. Thanks for the reply. I think I have an idea on what you're talking about but do you think you could be a little more specific. I'm not sure if you're talking about the striker or the actual latch on the door. And when you say tap little by little in I must admit that I'm definitely not sure on that. Just a bit of clarification would be nice. Thanks again.

Ok Yellow after further investigation I found what you were talking about. I have adjusted the latches you mentioned and I must say the doors are better. Thanks for your help and all that replied. Thanks again.
