Rear window removal?

Can anyone give me any pointers on how to safely remove the rear window without butchering the seal? A buddy of mine who works in a bodyshop and I tried to remove mine and made a mess of it, the glass is still good, but the plastic rim that is glued to it was damaged during removal, the eurothane in these things is hard thick and very hard to get through and the glass guy who is supposed to reinstall says he doesnt think it will work.
This works out okay because I wanted a rear slider, and now can get one for $200 ....if I can get it out of the truck without ruining it this time. Any suggestions?

PS I read the the ford PDF on how to replace, but it is not very helpful.

so the rubber frame that holds the glass is damaged or is it the seal that youre referring to? if its the seal its just a butyl rubber tape that you have to replace anyways when you replace a window. its like a rubbery tar type seal.
