center console lights out???

center console lights out???

noticed the other night that my center console shift selector does not light up anymore...
never took this apart...
truck is a 2007 fx4 s/crew w/27,000...should dealer fix???
anyone else have this issue or have a simple fix???(plug bad or1 or 2 bulbs)

still to cold outside to rip interior apart...maybe 40 this weekend!!!

well if you lift the lid, the section that has the cup holders in it and that go around the shifter just pops up if pull. then you can maybe look to see if a bulb burned out.

next on my list is a full service manual on cd
not some cheap haynes manual at autozone...

I copied the following awhile back as I plan on replacing mine this weekend (finally):

First off, the bulb is a bulb #168.

Lift the center console lid up so its out of the way. Then grab the front cupholder and the back of the console where the lid latches and pull up. That whole assembly with the cupholders and aroudn the shifter will come up as one piece and snap free.

If you are sitting in the driver seat while doing this, the bulb and bulb harness are at the rear of the shifter closest to the driver side. Twist it a 1/4 turn to the left, towards the driver, and out will come the bulb.

Thanks guys...was a quick and easy fix...2 #168 bulbs $5...
The guy @ advance auto didn't even know what bulb I needed so that info was great too...
only hicup was it looks like the bulb melted the plastic a little before it blew so I had to file it down a litle and add a screw on top to prevent it from turning out itself...
