Salt

Look at all this salt buildup and crap in my engine bay! What is the best way to clean it off without ruining anything? Please help. Thanks

Also what is this part that has become so rusty after less than a year and a half? I can touch the round part that has all those little tabs and rust falls off.

WOW! Looks like a rag and some engine cleaner are going to be your friend. I washed my engine once and fried my TPS.

If you are going to do anything at all, cover up your COPS before you wash anything. That will be the first thing that will make you do a face plant after you drive your truck shortly from the engine bay cleaning. These COPS die quickly if any water or moisture gets in them from spraying.

I didn't even realize it was this bad until today when I changed my oil. It was at the dealer yesterday to see if I needed a reflash or TB because of a code issue and nobody told me about this s**t.

Best way is a bucket of water with a small amount of detergent and rags. Don't soak the rags, wring them out pretty dry. You can wash the underside of the hood, front near the radiator if your careful. You may go through a few fresh buckets but really it isn't that bad.
Don't high pressure wash your engine, it would almost be better to leave the salt film on.

Good morning to you sir!
COP»Coil on Plug.
Instead of having a single coil and a distributer these motors have individual coils on each plug controlled by the PCM.
PCM»truck's computer.
Some people who wash their motors end up with problems afterwards. Especially when using pressure washers.
So what they are trying to say and did is to take precautionary measures to make sure that the area(top) on the motor doesn't get wet.
Just thought I'd pass that info along to help keep you more informed!
Have a great day!
Peace

ive typically covered bunches of electronics and juts used a garden hose with no attachment and not on full blast. just kind of a steady little stream, maybe about a half inch in diameter. i usually soak it in mean green too. make srue you cover the 4wd iwe thing, the cop's and whatever groups of electronics you find
