Thinking about stepping up to 40s.....

Well, my toyo mud's probably have 5k miles left on them. They have been outstanding and lasted me around 31k miles so far... So, as I always do I'm considering upgrading rather than just replacing. Is anyone on here running a 8" rize, bil 5100s (or level spacers) and a 3" body? I'm not a huge fan of body lifts, but if done right I guess they are ok. If I step up with a new bodylift I can run 40" toyos or even 42" bfg muds. Just wanting to hear if anyone has run this setup. Thanks!!

Jeremy

I think your truck would look silly with larger tires than that, personally. The tires would just outsize the dimensions of the truck, making it like a caraciture. Your truck looks sweet as it is. The only way anything over 38's would look halfway proportioned is if you had a long 6.5' bed or an F-250.

Appreciate your comment and I halfway agree. Sometimes i think 38s are fine, sometime I wanna go bigger. Haven't made up my mind yet. These will be the last tires i run on the truck, I'll be getting a F250 later on. Anyone else?

Well.......i think it would look badass man!!! Truck already looks pimp if you don't go bigger tho. I don't like body lifts either, you can def hide it with your step boards, but just knowing it was on there would annoy me....And did when i had one on my last truck.

Yall are worried about the wrong thing. Don't worry about the body lift, worry about what 42's is gonna do to your frontend.

Leave the truck alone, specially if your gonna be selling it soon.

i'd say just buy new 38's, i have nothing against 40's but i think they look abit disportionate on these trucks. idk thats just me , i like when the tires still fit in the wheel wells.

I don't know too much about lifted trucks and big tires but I think your truck looks pretty nice the way it sits right now. I would just say buy a new set of 38s.

One thing to think about is that if you are going to buy a F-250 later and want to sale your current truck, there won't be many people in the market for a truck as large as what yours would be or even is. I'd hate to see you spend al that money to upgrade and then it come to hurt you when you resale it later down the road for some cash for the f-250. Why not go ahead and just replace the tires? You've got a great looking truck and it's modded nicely.

I think your truck looks great with 38's. I wouldn't change it.

I'm not a fan of body lifts, but if done right, they do look good. With that said, I would never buy a truck that had a body lift installed.

Texan,

I know you do some hunting as you actually use your truck off the pavement. 40-42 inch tires is just asking for stock drivetrain/suspension parts to fail on you. And out in the woods by yourself is the last place you want 4x4 to stop working. For functionality purposes, I say keep it to 37-38" tires max. It looks great already while still being functional, I'd keep it that way if I were you. Dont you also have 4.56 gears? That gearing isn't going to be enough for 40"+ tires.

I would leave alone and go with the f250 when the time comes.
Even with regearing you should look at your tranny also.
Those 40" tires are going to beat it up.

Well after talking with a buddy over lunch about it and your comments I'm just going to stick with another set of 38" toyos. I just don't like body lifts.. Thanks for the input fellas!

You could upgrade to a more aggressive tire and stay with 38's if you are wanting to change the look

You could go with a Nitto Mud or a supper swampier something like that this proly will satisfy your change for the look
