My 04 IS DONE :(

Well my truck is on it`s last leg ! Had some issue this past month throwing out a few codes. Plus a loud ticking nose (Cam phaser)For about 3 month.
Yesterday sitting at a lite I heard a loud nose ,sounded like my fan belt broke and tapping under the hood. I Shut the engine off ! Fan belt was fine. Turned her back on, started up fine . But no loud ticking ! Drove a few blocks, truck started vibrating. Driveable but rough. Truck is running like $-!# now.
Took it in to my mechanic today. It threw out about 15 codes He tried figuring it all out. But couldn`t . He thinks it`s internal. Suggest taking to Ford

Next Step is to take to Dealership !

Sure hope its not the motor , What do these cost? What else can I do? 147,000 miles on this truck

Thanx for reading / Just venting Chaz

Sorry, I don't have anything helpful to add. Just I hope that you figure it all out, she looks like a sweet truck. Good Luck!

$100 says it's a 5.4.

Sounds like high mileage 5.4's don't last long at all.

One of my buddies has a '04 with the 5.4 in it. The truck has over 140k on it, motor is only runnin on 4 cylinders. No one can figure out why.

See if the spark plugs have been changed at all. This helps out alot in these 3V's.

If it's a 5.4, I see it has a K&N intake, wonder if it has a custon tune?

Internet assumptions don't count.

So... why not just rebuild the engine? If the truck's body/frame is great, why trash a good truck or spend money on a new one?

Don't get rid of your truck because of the engine or transmission. The frame/body is what counts.

That's a 2 valve man, damn near bullet proof. These first gen 3 valves drop left and right from VCT problems.

Your right, cam phaser problems don't exist, neither do VCT related problems. What was I thinking.
