Lowering Shackles to Leveling Kit?

First off, i currently have djm 2" lowering shackles. My older brother has i a 2.5" leveling kit, not sure of the brand. he is taking his lift off and going back to 22's and low pros. He has offered a trade. i could take the leveling kit and give him the shackles. if i dont, i keep my shackles and he sells the kit and buys shackles. so really its up to me. what do yall think? if i do the swap, it will cost me fifty bucks, alignment.

i have 32" goodyear at/s with 18" king ranch wheels. here is my truck now.

the first two pics are older tires. the third pic is my current tires.

Those 18" KR wheels should be 7.5 inches wide...

I'm busted too... I have a Lariat with KR wheels... just like yours.

You'll like the lifted look, my tires are about 32" as well, and 11" wide (285/65 R18)

I'd vote for yes, do it...

Yes I do...

I actually installed a 3" level kit up front, and 3" blocks in the back... Kinda backfired on me cuz the front only increased about 2.5" in height and the rear block did the full 3" so my rake is a bit higher than I had planned... I never found a good 2" block that I trusted, so I may actually find me a good 1
" lower shackle to fix that issue...

The sig pic is me simulating the look with a jack, but I'll get some pics this afternoon so you can see what mine looks like now if you'd like, we have about the same sise tires and our difference will only be the rear block...

As I stand today, I have a 2" difference between height of fenders front to back, before lifting I had 1.5" and kinda wanted to keep that... hopefully after the shackle I'll get it to about 1" difference...

That is exactly what I was going for as well...

However, I'm learning that (at least in my truck, but my theory is that my shocks are shot) the ride may be a bit too rough for low pro tires... 20" wheels maaaay be close to low pro, though I've seen many great looking tire/wheel combos in that size... Looks great, I dunno if it will ride well.

Only other issue is that in most of the wheels that I have looked at, the price difference between the 18 and 20" wheels were about 50 and up to 150 per corner (I know thats a wide range) Price difference in tire sizes is significant too... Price DOES affect my decision...

My plan:

1. snoop around on here long enough to see/hear about how these will look/drive/fit...

2. that should give me some time to save up the $$$ to not have to worry about the difference in price... my tires are still pretty new and I'm still liking how they look... you may wanna do the same lift first, then see what tire will fit under there with your current wheels... I wish I would have done it in that order, love the height of my 32" tires, would have chosen a bit wider I'm sitting almost 11" right now...

Either way it'll look good when you do it. I'm jealous because I like YOUR paint color combination better than mine... I usually don't pick white on white, however it was a deal that I just couldn't walk away from...

Cheers

According to FOMOCO, the larger the wheels the less you can tow and haul... Wheels, tires and the leveling kit will really make your truck "shine"... Also white trucks are very sharp...

well hell, i like the all white more!! care to meet in alabama and do a trade?? i love my truck, its classy. The tan/black combo, very clean. but like i said, its classy. im young, i would rather have something out there. i would rather have all white/chrome.

out of all seriousness, if i plan on spending 1500 bucks in tires and wheels, i am gonna spend the extra money and getting exactly what i want. dont get me wrong, i have seen some amazing looking rigs with 18" wheels. Just not my style. someone on here has a black/gray truck with a leveling kit, 18's and 33x13" tires. looks amazing.

i can understand the ride quality being different. But to me, i guess looks are more important then ride quality, to an extant. Riding a little rougher on the highway, turning a little wider, wouldnt bother me one bit. like i said, im young.

I have a truck with drop shackles and a truck with 2.5-3.5 inches of lift and my lifted truck rides 10x better than my lowered truck. Just do it right

Oh yeah I totally agree...

This truck rides WAY better than my dad's SD... I just meant mine got a bit worse after the lift when I overextended my stock shocks in the rear, they are worn out by my testing, and likely didn't fare well when I hear the loud band of overextension while going over a speed bump... "scared the heck outta me"

After the lift, slightly firmer, just need me some new shocks... I located and solved some of my problem by deflating my tires to 40 psi, they had 50... much better...

I drive a truck... not a boat ;-P

I love my truck now! I'm looking for the shocks, and then it's that awkward pause in mods to build up funds... Working on these things is soo much fun, and I like that I am doing it myself and not just driving it into a shop... the feeling of accomplishment gives me that big cheesy smile...

I'm just an amateur modder... some of you guys/gals are my heroes... i.e. the likely winner of TOTM this month... well... she had a huge lead when I looked last.

Cheers, and Def add some pics when you upgrade your truck!
