Best Battery Consensus

I have a Optima yellow top now and am not impressed. Its lasted me about a year and a half and a lot of the time it leaves me stranded places. Apparently they have fallen off the band wagon and the chinese ruined their product.

So that bring me to the next question...

What battery is considered the best? I searched but found multiple opinions. My truck runs lots of accessories (audio, lights, etc) and has a good alarm so it puts a constant draw on the battery. When I first got my yellow top I could go days without worrying, now im lucky if I can make one day.

So whats the best, longest lasting battery?

1) Interstate Mega Tron?
2) Diehard Gold?
3) ???

I did a lot of looking a couple of weeks ago. A lot of people on here like the interstates, and I personally have had good luck with them. I was looking for something with alittle more reserve ( Deep cycle) as I plan on running some more lights and possibly a winch. Everyone eemd to be having issues with the newer Optimas, so I looked at the Odysseys, a glass mat bettery and liked the look of them, except price. Found out that the Die Hard platinum is made by Odyssey, so I ended up with it. So far It is great.

You will never get a concensus on the best battery. You have several fans of Optimas, Interstate, Odyssey, DieHard, and (like me) EverStart from Wal-Mart. The biggest key to having a long battery life is to either drive long distanes to allow the alternator to work or have a battery tender to keep it charged up when it sits. Batteries are made with the same design, and the same components. Get what works and costs the least.

Well see the Optimas are losing fans left and right. They are just not near as good as they used to be.

Hello & Good afternoon!

For me, the *best* battery is one that, with proper TLC, never lets me down.

For over 10 years, that's been Motorcraft. I've never owned any battery that's lasted longer.

Neglect can terminate even the most expensive or reputable battery.

IMHO... thanks!

Cheers & Bests

Ive got extensive audio equipment and an alarm that has a constant draw. I need something better than a stock battery, lol.

Well my opinion is go for a Interstate. I first got a marine grade interstate in my boat, and it is awesome. I can play the radio all day long(literally) and at the end of the day, I have PLENTY of starting power. Over the winter, it sits without ever being started. When summer comes and I start it for the first time...no problem. So when it came time for a new battery in my truck, I asked around. Got many different opinions. I went with an Interstate, and it is just as good as the one in my boat. 100% better than my original MotorCraft, which would die after 15 min. of radio playing with the AudioPhile system. And sometimes it would just spontaneously die with no warning. I am a true believer now, and will probably always go with Interstate.

Take a lok at the Odyssey/ Die Hard Platinum. That is exactly the type of application it is intended for.

Well I had my battery on the charger. When it read 100% I took it off. As soon as I took it off the charger it dropped really fast. I stopped watching when it got to 85% and I plugged it back in, lol. I guess its time for a new one.

Wasn't there a thread not too long ago about battery manufacturer's? I think someone said there were only two or three companies out there that actually made them and the rest were just re-badged? I believe someone said that the walmart brand batteries are made by Delphi.

Once had this dilemma but solved it with another motorcraft. First one lasted over 5 years and was still going but struggled a time or two so I replaced it before being stranded. Got the biggest one available. Been rolling strong ever since.
