My ECU died today....

Don't know why but while I was sitting in my truck today, engine running with transmission in park,it started idleing rough for about 5 seconds and the engine shut off. Tried to start it and it won't even engage the starter. Battery is fresh, all guages, lights, and etc. work, no blown fuses. Did get a faint ordor of something burning. Tried to read any engine codes with my X-Cal2 and I can not even communicate with the ECU.Flat bedded it to my buds shop and he tried to scan codes, and he too can not communicate with it.
I am now looking for an EAY4 or if none available would accept an MHE0 ECU.
If anyone knows of one with old strategy I am very interested. There is a possiblity that if I can find one that the strategy has not been updated in that it will be an easier marriage to my 2004 Supercrew 4x4, and that maybe I can get away without having to send it to Roush. It will depend on the strategy of whatever I can find.
Anyone knows of one please give me a shout.... 2 1/2ft of snow on the ground and my 4x4 is sitting...

After a day and a half of emotioinal ups and downs we discovered that it was not the ECU. It was the fuel pump modual, and a blown fuse do the the modual going bad.....Still gonna sell it and buy an FX4 I have been looking at though..

My condolences for your fuel pump module and fuse. At least the ECU lived to see another mile.
