For the last month my rear-end is slowly killing itself, Ford place is wanting 1300 to fix it... I know there are ways around that and a cheaper replacement... My question is does anyone know where I can find a 8.8 complete rear-end... I'm thinking there are junkyards or even places that make 8.8 to switch mustangs... Anyone dealt with this or have any insight to point me in a better direction...
You can't use any 31 spline becaus ethey are different width. You need one that is the same width as yours. Most mustangs use a 28 spline.
What is wrong with your current 8.8. You can completely rebuild it for under a grand. That includes gears, locker and labor.

My rear axle went out a few months ago and i found an 8.8 from a 2000 with 80k miles and a ls for 400 bucks. You should be able to find them anywhere from 200-800 depending on the axle and how many miles on it.

might be a good time to upgrade to a 9.75 if your going to get one from a wrecker anyways, 9.75s are even usually more common. Any F150 8.8 or 9.75 from 97-03 will work just make sure its the same ratio.
Any 8.8 with 31 spline axles will work.
Yea, finding the wrong one is what I'm gun shy about...
I know my truck is 3.73 with limited slip.... I could not live without at least a limited slip... Shortly after getting my job at a local jeep place I noticed a "Thump-Thump" sound coming from under my truck... No biggie I thought just U-joints... Measured the factory ones because they wanted like $90 a piece and found some Dana/Spicer stronger ones for $25 a piece... Then still had the noise... At this point it wasn't very loud and had the Jeep place drivetrain guy check it out and he discovered that I was crazy and there wasn't any sound... My stupid self (21 and in college self, some may relate) never realized that I should just take it to the Ford place under warranty until the mail letter reassured me that my warranty was over... That was the week the thump got several decibels louder... I'm convinced I had a factory imperfection, but I know my driving style and giving it a hard time @ wot persuaded it to speed up the progress... Now, I'm still on the college budget (broke) trying to fix my truck hitting myself for never taking it to the dealership... HUGE LESSON LEARNED....
