HEY MGDfan!
HEY MGDfan!
Hey ah, since apparently I can't pm you... I'll just ask you here.
Do you believe that Seafoam is "bad" for our motors or just that it doesn't work for our motors due to the fact that they are clean burning motors?
I'm not trying to start a debate with you or argue with you. I'm just trying to understand.
When I changed my plugs, I poured about 3/4 of a bottle right down the TB and shut her down. My attempt here was to let it soak into the carbon. When I pulled the plugs out, the carbon was really soft. You could literally wipe the carbon right off the plugs. This leads me to believe that the Seafoam has done it's job.
Now one time, I put a whole bottle in with a fresh full tank of gas, and could swear to you I got much better mileage. Now that being said, I didn't actually check my mileage. It just seamed to me that a tank of gas lasted longer.

Ok I have been worried about using fuel additive, I used Valvoline Complete Fuel System Cleaner every oil change in the Gas Tank. But I no Seafoam is good in like lawnmowers or outboards. I just don't wanna Fwonk up my engine you know?
So how awesome do you do it to yours frog?

Greetings and Good evening to you Mr. AV! How are you?
I too do not wish to inadvertantly invoke yet another Seafoam debate - there have been many on this board over the years - and most of them ended in pointless urination contests.
I believe you have already seen my related contribution in this thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...-know-why.html
In a nutshell, I am of the humble opinion that this product does have it's uses. Cleaning out the gas tanks on long-term stored motorcycles is one; 2-stroke decarbonizing another, as a carb cleaning solution, and yes lawnmower care.
I personally would be hesitant to pour any of this into my engine though, for the very reasons linked to in the aformentioned thread - a risk of hydrolocking being foremost; the combustion high temps of naptha being another; the potential for Cat & O2 contamination yet another...
I am sure you saw some carbon softening, given this chemical's properties I'd be surprised if it did not do this - however, you must at least ensure you change yer oil as this substance will compromise the oil if it finds it's way to the pan.
As for mileage - I do not know what to tell you - you would need to perform controlled testing to accurately gauge this assertion.
This product has been around for a very long time - back in the day when engines routinely clogged up I suppose it had it's uses - not so much today, IMHO.
But as I said - a near-religious topic - and, like most such debates of that genre, darn-near irreconcilable, lol.
About those PM's. Well... I must confess that I am a perpetual N00b with respect to the finer nuances & intricacies of this board's advanced features - I can barely use Search, lol.
The last time I tried to enable Friends, or PM's, all of my credit cards ceased to function
. I dunno if that was just a coincidence or something that I screwded up.... So - now I'm gun-shy :o
I hope I was able to address some of your points in some minor fashion. If not, I regret that I have failed.
Regards & Bests ...

These trucks are filled with sensors and other electrical nitemares in every nook and cranny. By running anything besides gasoline, you are treading in dangerous water...especially when using a caustic substance like Seafoam
The use/debate over Seafoam is much like the one for Throttle Body Spacers. Seafoam/TBS have their uses...but in modern EFI cars, the are not needed, and can often be quite detrimental
