Front end grinding, 4X2 STX.

I did a search and read over 10 pages but seems no one with a 4x2 has posted on this issue.

Truck
04 F-150
4x2 STX 4.6
All stock
70,000 miles

The noise started last Thursday, grinding metal on metal sounds, going straight you don't hear it but as soon as you turn the wheel it starts. Does it more to the left than the right, sounds like it is coming from the driver’s front.
Does not seem to be speed or direction depended, it will happen on the highway or 5 MPH, going forward or reverse.

I had the brakes (front rotors/pads) done a couple weeks ago so I took it back to the guy that did it Friday, he pulled the wheels and checked everything with his work, everything looked good. Of course we could not get the noise to happen when it was on the rack but he heard it when we were in the parking lot.

It was 5 when I showed up at his shop so he asked me to bring it back this week when he has more time. Suggestions?

Is that the new body style 04? The reason I ask is because its a one piece hub bearing. You said you had the front rotors done. What did you have done to them?

Yes its the new body style, replaced rotors, pads up front. Would the bearing be part of the new rotor assembly? Defective rotor assembly?

I had him install Wagner TQ pads and told him to go with new rotors. I know he gets allot of his parts from NAPA but I have no clue the brand of rotors. The rotors are definitely new not the old ones.

From my recalection the bearing is part the rotor assembly on the new body style f150. You can only replace the hub if it goes out or if you have to replace the rotor. It runs about $300 at the dealer and from my searching very few places have it for less. It could have been a defective one, they could have also not torqued it enough causing it to prematurly wear the bearing.
