Towing camper with lift

I was wondering how many of you tow with your trucks that are lifted? I have an 04 5.4 leveled with 295/70/17s on it now and I tow a 22' travel trailer and does a good job. I am planning a 4" to 6" lift and 35s and wandering how well it will handle towing the camper.

I don't know what your plans are for the truck, but if you are going to 35's and towing a 5-6000lb camper, regearing should be very high on the list of things to do.

One of my big problems is that I don't want to spend a truck load more money on the truck because the wife and I are trying for another little one and when that comes a crew cab super duty is in the plans. But you know how it is once you start working on these trucks you can't stop.

Just a thought, but if you guys are trying for another little one (good luck btw) and you are planning on getting a crewcab once the baby comes, why don't you just save the money that you were going to put into the lift and put it towards the new truck.

I know exactly what you mean about not being able to stop doing things to the truck. I told myself and the wife that I was only going to do the level, wheels, tires, and tint. But then I did the Edge Evo, Airaid intake, custom exhaust, bed cover, FX2 upper and lower grilles, blacked out badges, custom tinted tail and 3rd brake lights, swapped in a 6 disk CD, and Firestone airbags in the the rear. And once the tax return comes I am going to put in a JVC DVD headunit and do a on-board air compressor system for the airbags. It just never seems to end

I keep telling myself to hold off on and buy a diesel. I even looked at newer 4 door dodge with a cummings today, I know its a dodge but I am not brand loyal. Heck I own a Ford F150, Chevy 454SS, and two Newer Jeeps (dodge).

PHS79 I tell my wife the same things and it never happens, I tolder this summer that I was buying a Yamaha WR just to play on HA HA its a full blown dual sport trail monster now. I won't even start on the trail Jeep. I usually keep my drivers pretty mild but I have the itche on this thing right now.

We have a 21' hybrid trailer, its a hardsided camper but the beds slide out the front and rear and are canvas covered like a pop-up. The hybrids are in the category of "super lites", ours has a dry weight of 3800lbs and a GVW of 5200lbs, when loaded for a 3-4 day trip it is probably right around 4800lbs.

35's and towing

Hey not sure what gears u are running but I have a leveling lift and aal. I have 3.73 gears and pull a 30 ft fifth wheel weighs 8000lbs. I went from 325 60 18 which is basically 33 inch tires to 35 inch to try it out and I went back to the 33's. it was way to much work on the tranny with the 35's

I have 3.73 gears and the same lift as you. The truck does fine now with the 295-70-17s on it but this stupid itch to modify I hate.

By the way I am going to look at a 78 F250 crew cab on Friday, look out can you say cummings swap with a dana 60 front. This is my ultimate dream truck so I hope it pans out.
