Lost a bolt!!!
Lost a bolt!!!
I need some help figuring out what size bolt goes to the wedge holding the battery in place! I took the battery and the plastic piece it sits in out to gain access to the grommet located to the side and when I put everything back in I could not find that stupid bolt. I believe the outside is 5/16 but I'm not sure what the threading is, I also don't really remember what it looks like so I don't know what to look for in a hardware store...
It's kind of important that I have the battery secured, since ford did such a great job of ensuring one stupid plastic piece does this job alone I think I should figure this out sooner than later, please help!!
(*edit, called ford and they had some awkward measurement for the bolt...what a horrible bolt to lose lol)

Same thing happened to me this summer. Lost that bolt...looked everywhere for it. Went to two different ford dealers to get a part number on it, both were telling me different things about it and different numbers. Got a hold of Ed ( a site sponsor) and he hooked me up with a break down list for parts of the battery which none of the other idiots at the other dealerships found. That bolt CAN NOT be ordered just by itself, you have to order the whole battery harness, which is lame. And it runs about 100.00 dollars. After driving to about 10 different stores to find this thing I looked online.
well, I should have started online first....I found the bolt and the nut at boltdepot.com
Here is want you need
#12208 - Carriage bolts, Stainless steel 18-8, 3/16 (10-24) x 1-1/2
#7401 - Flange nuts serrated, Stainless steel 18-8, 10-24

I should add, thank you so much for the reply, its the 2nd reply of my 10 posts on here :/, definitely appreciated!
That doesn't seem right, if the bolt came out another one can go in...I wonder if we have the same setup? It's just a wedge that fits between the battery and the plastic case, has a hole through the middle that lines up with a hole in the case...there was no nut attached. Ford found the bolt for $1.56. I know for sure it wasn't a metric 10, I only used a 1/2 inch and a 5/16 socket to take the entire thing off (1 bolt for the wedge and 4 bolts around the outside for the case).

You know what, I guess I read the post a little to fast... I thought you were taking about the bolt that holds the positive and negative clamps to the battery posts.....my bad..
But now if you ever loose those you know what you need haha

Ha, or know that I should simply NEVER LOSE THEM. That is outrageous, $100 for that, your post will no doubt make me a little more careful around the thing lol. Thanks again though, I'm crossing my fingers this bolt Ford ordered is the right one, not like they've never ordered the wrong part before

When I lost that bolt and nut, I did have a dealer order it for me, well when it came in it was not even close lol
let us know if it works for you.
