Question Windshield Washer issue?

When I hit the button for using the washer fluid sometimes there is a couple second delay before the fluid comes out.

I can hear the "hum" of the pump so its not an electrical issue...
I am using the Orange Rainex so its not a freezing issue

It seems like maybe the fluid is draining from the lines and it has to reprime itself maybe?

If I use the washer fluid again soon after it won't have the delay. But sometimes it has the delay.

Has anyone noticed this problem with their windshield washer pump? Is there any easy fix I'm missing?

... If there isn't an easy fix then I'll just wait for the pump to die before replacing it. My best guess is that the check valve in the pump is leaking and that's why the lines are emptying out.

Thanks!

(PS - I did a search and didn't find anyone listing the same symptoms...)

i talked to ford and a few mechanics i know they all said its not a big deal and some wiper pumps just take a bit to get it through the line

Yeah,I don't see that as a problem. I would think if it was a check valve problem, you would have fluid coming out of the nozzles on acceleration since fluid would be free to leave the tank. The fluid just takes a while to move from the reservoir.
