Carolina's PTM Project

Well I am thinking about PTMing a few things, so what do y'all think ?

Here's the First Thing Running Boards
Here are the Choices:
1. PTM Line-x Them
2. PTM Them
3. Black Line-X
4. Leave em' Alone

I think I will check out how much it is to PTM Line-X them but I may just PTM them myself first to see how they look, because I know its not gonna be cheap for PTM Line-X. Our local dealer wanted $625 over rail for my bed

SO vote and let me know what y'all think

Here's A Pic:

Gonna Do Other Stuff on to that issue later, please just answer the running board question.

THANKS

I think I'd save the money and just take them off... or if your want to keep them, I'd go with black

Ok Guys I talked to the Line-X dealer in town and he told me that he would feel bad spraying the Line-X extra with PTM. He said down here in our heat/sun. It would fade in about 6 months. He told me something interesting that actually contradicted what I was told. The Line-X gets sprayed (normal Black LIne-x) then they spray a paint pigment(color of your truck) then they are done So no wonder it fades they said especially since it gets 3x hotter than truck paint. So won't be getting PTM Line X

Well I got quoted to do the Line-X on the Running Boards for $260 before tax OTD for $278 What do y'all think?

And just for ****s and gigs I asked them how much to PTM my Door Handles they said it would be all labor, paint, tape etc... would be OTD $330. That was actually much cheaper than I thought. But I'm not gonna just jump on it either.

Thoughts?

SO what do you guys think? I am definitely gonna eventually spray the running boards. I may do Line-X or do Xtreme Liner like I got on my bed. My friend that sprays the Xtreme liner sprays a really rough liner too for serious work trucks it is like 40 grit sandpaper Which I wold like especially for being a slippery area.

I wouldn't take them off because if your front bumper is like mine it will hang a lot lower then the rest of your truck making it look really weird. But I like the PTM idea instead of black, you don't have much black on that truck right now so why have your running boards black. I'd go with PTM and if you have the money I would get everything done at once. maybe they could cut you a better deal beacuse later if you want it done the deal might not be there. But that's just IMO

My first vote: Just take 'em off. If you insist on keeping them, get the black line-x.

As for the door handles, just order the cheap chrome covers off eBay and PTM them yourself like most members on here have done. MUCH cheaper.

I'm keeping the steps just b/c I am 6'5 and I don't wann ruin my seats by sliding out. I get out and step on the boards then get in instead of sliding on and off the boards.

I thought about doing the chrome covers which I still might do but I am afraid they are gonna look cheap. or one might fly off I just want something that will last and not look bad. NOT saying anybody that did their chrome covers look bad I like Msall's & Shanks12. I just like the look of the FX4 Luxury ones that came from the factory.

I feel ya on the handles, I'd love to do mine someday.

As for the boards, I removed mine because someone offered to by them. I've learned to turn and put one heel on the door sill kick plate, and the other stepping out, and lifting myself off the seat as I get out, so I don't slide on my seats.

I get on to passengers all the time for sliding out of my seats haha.

I am only 5' 11" and my truck has a couple inches on yours, no problems. Actually surprised at how well my leather is holding up at 90k.

I've had to teach my fiance just how to do that.. She's only 5'2" and she insisted on just sliding her butt across seat to get out.. that got corrected quick

But as far as the boards.. I think if your wanting to keep them on, just do black lineX, I wouldn't even try the PTM lineX if it won't last past 6 mo. As far as the handles, I would just go ahead and try the cheap chrome.. heck, it might only cost about $50 (handles, paint, primer, sand ppr, beer) to paint your mirrors and handles. If you don't end up liking them, then your not out to much.

What do the FX4 luxury ones cost? Or are you talking about the Mark LT ones?
