My rear passenger tire is getting quite a bit more wear than the rest of the tires. The guy at the tire shop said this its probably because i don't have a locking differential and most of the power is being transered to that tire, hence the tire wear. I anyone else having this problem? I rotate the tires every 5k, so its not like im neglecting them.
Two wheel drive trucks with out limit slip will show this wear do to little weight over the tires. Keeping up with tire rotation will extend and reduce the uneven wear...

I don't think the rear axle has ball joints. I posted some pics of the tires in my profile. FYI the bad tire is now in the font not the rear, which is where it got so bad. As you can see the top half of the tread is gone compared to the good tire.

Even though you have limited slip, it don't kick in until there is tire slippage. Hence, "limited slip"... if it was always connected it would then be called a "spool"... which is something you don't want.
I don't know what to tell you about your one tire, except that maybe your limited slip is going out and turning your truck into a non limited slip truck. If you know what I mean...

a limited slip will slip with as low as 150ft/lbs of torque, even when both tires are spinning the one with less traction will still turn faster as the clutches are slipping. Also the right rear generaly wears faster because all right hand turns are tighter then left hand turns, and the right hand side of the road is where all the road debris is so generally the right rear is scrubbing away with every right hand turn.
Its the same way on Big trucks. The right rear is the first worst, then the left rear, then the right front rear, and then the left front rear. if that made any since? jus keep your tires rotated and stay off the gas.
