Hi all. I am looking at getting a remote start for my truck and not too sure which 1 to get. Just looking for some info and recommendations. ie just a remote start or an alarm w/remote start? And what brand?

Most stuff from Directed is very nice.

I'd say stick with Viper or Python. There more of the top of the line.

But well worth it!

I'm running the 1 Mile range Viper 5900 SST remote start and alarm system
I love it. Have had it in the truck since I bought it new in 07 and not 1 issue.

But now they have come out with even cooler gadgets.

I have a Viper 5901 and love it. I also added a 530t for the front windows to control them with the remote as well.

when I was looking around for my remote start the only brand that would still retain the function of the keypad on the door was code alarm so thats what I went with. Can't be happier!!

Make sure you check out KCautosound.com

I went with the code alarm system because I wanted it to be as close to stock as possible. It works great. The only thing it doesn't have is some way on the remote to alert you that the truck started. It's definitely gotten a lot of use these last few weeks.

+1 for viper 5901, love it and never had any glitches. it's by far the best of the 4 security/remote start systems i have owned.

I've got Ford's remote start on my 05 SCAB, no probs, lots of wires!. When I bought it I opted for the "deluxe" model with alarm and all the bells and whistles. I think the Ford would be easier to integrate versus an aftermarket because its model matched, you've got to deal with the transponder key and tying into an fuel injector for start confirmation. Plus the Ford kit has EXCELLENT range.

ford remote start

ok guys wondering if the ford remote start will work on an 06 screw. I went to two local dealerships and they say the ford kit will not work on an 06. That ford didn't start factory remote starts till 07. I thought 04-08 were the same. Any ideas? I would just like to go with the ford kit if I could. Thanks in advance.

I just bought a ford factory remote for my 05. As far as I understand it, the remote will work with any 04-08, they just werent implemented till 07? Correct me if I'm wrong, I know a user posted that he has a ford factory remote on an 05.

My only concern is the keypad not working on my door. Is this only with aftermarket stuff, or just ones with the alarms? I don't like loosing my keyless entry. Thats how i get in my truck about 85% of the time.
