but if another company is cheaper and they know their stuff then buy all means save your money. i have nothing against independent or specialty shops.

I want to use dealer. Just want them to say well your doing different guages so, no cause it is not original. They act like anything not stock they dont wanna mess with. I say I am paying, they should fix it. We know it will work, so why not just charge by the hour and just plug and play......

Who else could do as builts? mileage I am not worried about, just want AC to work.

I don't THINK the instrument cluster effects the ac at all. I could be wrong though.

Read up on it. Lariat has issues with AC when put in XLT. Everyone done has had issues. Get the as built put in and the AC starts working. AC has to do with cluster, due to temp reading. Wiring diagrams show AC wires headed to the cluster. I have not found the full diagram on the cluster or I would bypass the trigger thru the cluster.

Not sure this will help anyone, but I put an 05 FX4 cluster in my 06 XLT as a direct swap! All I had to do was drive the XLT until it matched the FX4.. everything works perfectly!

Cheers

Lariat and king ranch are a breed or there own. They usually have automatic climate control. You can put a FX cluster in a stx and it will work or xlt. Those are compatable.

As far as I know, the only XL's that came with a Tach were the trucks that came with a manual transmission. On my 07' as well as my Dad's 02' we both have 4.2L with the automatic, and neither of us have a tach.

I wanted a tach, KM/H was a plus for me; I grew up around European cars so it's nostalgia for me. I also wanted an XL or XLT cluster. While I like the Lariat/FX4/FX2 etc, I don't really think that they would fit in with the theme of my truck, too fancy for my tastes!

Here's a couple pics of the one that I have (I got it from a member of the forum).

Hope that helps some!
