Rust issue

Has anybody heard of a premature rusting issue of the inner fender under the battery side within the engine compartment? The paint has completely peeled and the whole inside is rusting.
My truck only has 85,000 kms on it with NO other rust. The fender is fine on the other side.
I think it has to do with the battery. Maybe a cathodic oxidaton thing?

I had this exact issue with my 07. The battery was cracked leaking down on the inner fender rusting it and rusting under the battery. Ford replaced battery under warranty and repainted inside wheel well.

x2. Sounds like the battery is leaking. Have the dealer remove the rust and repaint that spot. It should be under warranty.

Pulled the battery last night, and yes, that was the issue. Gonna call Ford today.

My truck was painted/repaired under the 36month/60K warranty and they put in a new battery. Do you have extended? Would it be covered under that?

My truck doesn't have extra warranty so Ford wasn't going to cover it. I replaced the battery and repainted the fender myself. It all worked out ok.
