Driver's side window regulator veterans...

Recently I've noticed that when I roll the window up it makes a faint screeching noise. Every once in awhile while rolling it down, there is a faint clunk or thud when the window hits bottom (more so when using the one-touch down function). Is this the pre-cursor to a broken regulator? If it is and it's on the way out, I'd rather pre-empt Murphy's Law and replace it now before it breaks in the pouring rain. Thanks.

I've never had that symptom. When mine went they went with a bang, literally, and the window fell into the door.

It's half that if you DIY.

Well that depends. I got mine form the local dealer and talked down their price after seeing what other people are paying. You also have to figure that buying online they may send you the wrong part. I had that happen when going to the dealer before when I had to have the part. I could imagine how it could be a PITA dealing with shipping back a wrong part and having your door all apart.

Mine gave no warning and I bought the replacement at the same local dealer as Stealth and did it myself. I did make one phone call to him with a question.

Would a "on it's way out" regulator explain why my drivers window goes up very slowly? It's slowest when it starts to move, up to about 1/3 up then it seems ok.
