07-08 Mark LT???
hi yall new here. Looking for a replacement truck to my 03 silverado, the Ford line has really caught my eye, 1. I like the interiors much better, 2, i feel more confident buying ford than Gm right now. I am normally a chevy boy, but these trucks seem specail. I realize yall have a mark LT forum down below a bit, but it dont seem to get to much traffic, so if yall dont mind I would like to post here, if this is bad mods can feel free to move it though.
My main questions are, what are some of the more popular mods for these the f150s have about the same drive train I think. Also I guess its just pure mass or what, but these trucks even with 20 more hp than my silvy seem slow. It might be just me, so im looking to mainly do some cheap bolt ons that will wake this puppy up. Also any problems I should be looking out for? I would love to get in to the new designed f150 but just cant swing 40k especially when I want to get a gt500 next spring, but thats a pipe dream, the 08s seem pretty nice. Also whats the max tow rating on these, I work construction and have a 18 foot enclosed trailer, my 07 1500 yukon does ok with it, but its also an almost 7000 pound beast. , think I will struggle to maintain speed, or will the mark be ok? Thanks again guys. Im kinda a funny dude here, I want to buy a lincoln and make it a work truck, but I like to be luxurious on occasion too lol. Im looking to stay in the 07 up range due to having nav and the possibe 6.5 foot bed. It would be awesome to find an 08 with rear camera and all the other bells and whistles for under 30k though.
so cliff notes.
i new, hey yall!
power upgrades what can i do? (is there a such thing as a custom tune for these, I have one on my silvy and boy did it wake it up, they just sent me the cord, i hooked it up to my laptop, e-mailed them the info I recorded, and they send me a new PCM. Is there somthing like this for the f150/mark LT?)
good truck, will it do what I need, any problems to look out for. (my cheby was a pain in the *** as far as repairs go which is another reason im looking for a truck with a warranty)
I have flowmasters on my silvy, but they took away a noticeable amount of low end grunt. What mufflers will add sound but not affect performance?
My main mods I want to do to it are a nice stereo, couple 10" subs good speakers. I like the stock nav so I wont change that out, Roll cage with offroad lights, K&N intake, Tune (if they have it), upgraded alternator, and some nice aggressive tires. Not much in to a lowering kinda guy, I may want to do a small lift to fit some bigger tires, but I still want this truck to be comfortable, also want to do an aggressive exhaust, other than that, give me some suggestions on what I can do to these things. I dont have the truck yet, Still trying to find the perfect one, But if its supposed to work out, I will find it.

You will net more power gains from a custom tune with these Fords than with your older chevy. Ford undertunes them from the factory big time. With an intake system, free flowing exhaust, and custom tuning from Troyer Performance, people are seeing up to 50+hp gains to the tires. Add e-fans and pulleys and its even more. I did these mods to my 2004 5.4 truck and even with 35 inch tires its still much faster/stronger than my dad's stock 2008 with the 5.4 engine.
For exhaust, I'd look at Borla or Magnaflow for best performance. For tuning, you'll want to buy a device like the Xcal2 or Xcal3 and have Troyer or VMPtuning write custom tunes tailored to your specific vehicle and driving styles. They will also write you specific towing tunes for when you tow that big trailer. Check out the "tuning & chips" section for more information.

ok cool so there is something like the black bear tune I got for the silvy. Im not interested in a hand held. I really feel more comfortable just having someone tune the truck as aggressive as possible and then shipping me the tune. I would also like to run it on 93 octane. I see that there are more than one tuning companies in the vendor section, Which one does closest to what I am describing here?
thanks a bunch!
thanks a bunch!
Well you have to use a hand-held device to get the tune on the PCM. When you order the tunes, they tailor them to your specific vehicle (with all your mods, driving habits, location/elevation, etc etc). They ship you the device with loaded tunes (or if you have the device in hand, they email you the tune files and you upload them in the device). Then you connect the device to the PCM to load whichever tune you prefer. You can have the tunes written specifically for different octanes of gas, for performance, for towing, for fuel economy etc. Lots of options...
ok so its a hand held and the tune is put on the hand held. I get it. So I can have one tune set for heavy towing, and another tune set for super aggressive when Im unloaded and by my self. Would it be best to get the bolt on's done first. Like the fans, exhaust, intake, pullys, etc.
