Key Pad replacement

Had the truck in at the dealer for service (had the 100K done at 95K - expensive!) and had them look at my key pad, which has been acting up a little.
When I punch in the code sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't, when I punch in the code again it opens on the 4th digit.

I asked them about this and their respnse was I needed a new key pad (of course). I did a search but couldn't find if this is common and the only option is to replace the unit (I was quoted ~$300 all up to replace).

Any advice/ tips always appreciated!

Chris

Order one from Tasca and replace it yourself. I had never done one and installed mine in about an hour.

Couldn't find it on Tasca using their search. Do you have a part # or link?

Here is a number from an older post. May still be the same. I can check when I get home.

Looks as if the part number is superceded by this one, and they do not have it. I bought mine at the local Ford parts department.

Just curious - how much was the 100K service?

$816 although I had some extra stuff done while in. I had a complete tranny service done, which I've done almost every 10K since I tow so much.

At the suggestion of one of my customers, who works at the parts dept for a Ford dealer, I'm going to order the replacement door handle with keypad ($70) and have a body shop put it in. I heard it was a PITA so will have someone else install it!

I just replaced my handle which came with a new keypad included. Cost me 97 just for the handle at ford. Was a bit of a pain to install but if your technically savy, you should be able to figure it out.

It really is not that hard to do. There are instructions on here you can follow. Took me about 2 hours.

Part + tax and shipping was about $90. Body shop will install for $50 so about $140 and I can work for two hours instead, which will pay for it.

The body shop is also taking care of a ding in my right rear quarter panel. Looks like a bike hit it but can't tell for sure - damn hit and run's!
