Does anyone know if a 2009+ tailgate will fit on a 2004 truck? I damaged mine this weekend trying to pull a friend out (the ****** strap came loose and popped my tailgate). I like the looks of the new tailgates and you can find them on craigslist for the same price. Just wondering if it will match. Im gonna have to get it painted too though.

 

Even if it fit (physically), it would not look right, the rear fenders flair out to match the tailgate.

 

Take it a good body shop and have them fix it.

 

Well I do have bushwacker fender flares. Im gonna see if I can remove my dads tailgate and put it on my truck over the holidays. The only thing is that he has a reverse camera and IDK how they are attatched in the tailgate.

 

There should some kind of plug or disconnect so you can remove the tailgate.

 

The flair I am talking about is not like that, sorry maybe wrong choice of words there. Look at the pic below you will see the rear fenders/quater panels follow the lines of the tailgate especially at the top. Your fenders are staight where these curve.

 

Oh got ya. Hmmm...hopefully I can convince my dad to let me steal his tailgate for a few minutes to test it out.

i saw an 09 tailgate lying on I-10 in alabama yesterday, right beside a bedliner, tailgate was crushed though lol and scratched and laying on side of the road
