Me again!


So, my truck is getting really close to 35,000 Miles and I am going shopping for it today, here is my list is there anything I might have missed?


oil/filter, its time for a change again, M/C 5-20W full syn.
Fuel filter.
Trans filter/syn trans fluid.
Brakes.
Windshield wiper fluid.
I have new wipers.

I think thats about it, but I am just wanting to make sure.

Hopefully I can keep this all under say $170

 

Oil/filter is about 20 bucks at wally world for motorcraft semi syn stuff. Feul filter 10-15 depending on where you get. Trans filter/fluid don't know. Brakes, if you need all 4 rotors you can spend 2-3 bills on just them and you still need the pads. Windsheild washer fluid is about 2 bucks a gallon.

Front brakes ( $51 )
Back brakes are fine, normally, or at least every other car/truck I have seen used 2-3 sets of front brakes to one set of back.

 

Your brakes wore out at 35k? What are you doing? Pressing on the brake and gas at the same time to see who wins?

 

nice thread necro. No I am not power braking, or riding my brakes.

I bought the truck used with 20K miles, and I had to replae the brakes at 35K.

They where wore out, why I have no idea. My last two cars only needed a change once each, my grand am had 110K when I got it, and I changed the brakes once at 140K, the mustang I had had a set at 65K that lasted until I sold it.

 

make sure you have the disconnect tool for the fuel filter.

...and you can't just replace pads unless you get the rotors cut or replace the rotors. It's a bad habit to do that and if your rotors are rigid they will tear through your new pads instantly.

 

Wrong. If you replace the pads before the rotors are grooved you will be fine. Most people, however, let thier brakes wear done too far before replacing, and therefor have to have the current rotors turned or new ones installed.

OP-add an air filter to the list of things to buy.

 

So I am RIGHT....Let me reword it to please those who enjoy saying "wrong".
