lariat or FX2
hey all i am new to the site. i have been looking around on this site for about a month, looking for ides on which truck to get. i have boiled it down to black with black leather screw. other then that the main thing i want is the console shifter. but i am trying to figure out what i would lose out on by going with FX2 instead of a lariat. this will be made into a street truck, most likely a 2/4 drop on 24's and much more. so any help from you guys will be appreciated.
all of your trucks are bad a$$ and i cant wait to join the family
oh and if any of you wanna show off your black on blacks
Thanks all
Ben

Mst of the time, the FX2 doesn't include auto climate control, information center in the guage cluster (different guage appearance althogether) and chrome accents. The FX2 is the "street" version, soit has feux carbon-fiber accents, non padded-center console lid, color-keyed bumpers.
I vote lariat, but I'm partial to things like heated leather seats and climate control. They can be had with an FX2, but were an extra add-on luxury package.

Any reason you are against the column shift?
No XL love?

If it were me, I'd go with the FX2.
Since you are going to make it into a street truck.
Why?
1.) 2WD is easier to lower (I can't remember what you said the lariat was), not that 4WD is impossible, but it is more difficult. It is more expensive, and how will 4WD help you "off-road" if you are lowered?
2.)If you are going to want ground effects at all, the FX2 already has some from the factory, so it's already gonna look dope without anything extra being added.
3.) All FX2's came with PTM bumpers, some Lariats had chrome, so less you'll have to swap out later (if you were planing on that).
4.) Generally sportier all around. From the Valence to the seats to OEM wheels. It already looks trick from the dealer. This makes it easier to stand out from the crowd before your project is done.
Honestly though, this is written by someone who would love an FX2. So if you are looking for an unbiased opinion, maybe listen to somebody else!

Um 2 wheel drive only. I personally just think the console shift is sick. All all the only thing I want to have is 4 doors and the console shift. Bonus power rear window and moon roof. And I don't need four wheel drive not that I have anything against it I just don't need it so why pay for it and maintain it.
To me the FX2 Sport is a better looking truck on the outside vs the Lariat (not to take any thing away from those owners) but that would be the 04-08 body style. I've only seen the 09/10 FX2 in pics and I'm not that crazy about it but I'm pretty sure it looks better in person. FX2 for the outside and Lariat for the inside (as far as features go) but a lot of this can be added on the FX2.
^^x2
the only reason i bought a lariat was because i need 4wd.. if i could have gotten away with 2wd, i would have bought a fx2

so there are some very bias opinions out there and some very good points as well. but from what i can gather lariat is just start up more luxury and the fx2 is more sport based. So HMMMM which one comes with the better package interior wise.. my all and all plan is to have a black s-crew lowered on 24's black with chrome lip and the chrome piece on the door handle and blacked out windows for that matter....
Have you found any 2wd lariats? that might be your answer...
I just got mine and i was between the fx4 and the lariat, but once you drive a lariat for more than just a test drive, all the small little things really add up and that made my decision for me

2WD Lariat is your choice then. The chrome won't be found on an FX2, and that can be kind of expensive. the FX2 and 4x2 Lariat are the same height, so lowering costs are the same. A new grill is all you'd have to add to the Lariat to get the "nicer interior" and have the street look with chrome.
