alright so i decided to update my edge for the first time in....like over a year...sadly....and it works fine in my truck...turns on..all buttons work everyhting.

but i plug it into my comp and open the lightning program, and my edge wont turn on or be recognized by the software. Lightning just keeps saying "connect device to launch"

now....is something wrong? do i need to do somehting i cant remember its been so long...or is it my old a$$ laptop not reading the usb?

do i need to return my truck to stock for it to be recognized and turn on?

so return it to stock...then bring my edge back...replug it into my comp and it will be recognized?

 

yes that should make it to where you can update it

 

yea...still didnt work...just returned it to stock and it still isnt starting up when plugged into my comp.



i wonder if its this comp

id do it on my macbook pro but lightning software wont work on it

 

Try a different USB cable and double check that it is securely plugged into your Evolution.

If you have a different USB port on your PC I suggest you also give that one a try.

Lastly, try and download the Fusion software from Edge.

but now i have another problem/quesiton

when i turn my truck on my edge doesnt turn on, i have to unplug it and replug it in. then when it comes on it gives me this

"The Trucks HEX File: RXCM5E4.HEX press 'enter' to continue"

i dont know what this means....i thought it would be cleared with the update....

any help?

 

its normal for it to diplay the hex code the first time it starts up after being unplugged.

well the Hex thing has been happening for like 6 months now and its doing it stil...maybe it wont next time i restart it.

 

Sounds like your battery is shot, I was hving the same problem with the hex code or the unit not working properly on startup. I replaced the battery today and no more problems.

 

I was in the same boat a couple weeks ago. Edge works fine now after the new battery.

 

oh its deffinatly cause my battery then

because mines hanging on a thread. i had my stereo on for 2 minutes last night without engine and my truck had to be jumped of course right on our way to athens for the night

thank god i had my portable jumper and didnt have to wait for somene and did it myself in about 2 minutes

 

I would recommend replacing the battery as soon as possible, it can cause some damage if not replaced, voltage spikes etc...
