In Process of Changing Sparkplugs at 50K, need some help
So I started last nite with removing the intake and computer to have access to all the sparkplugs. I removed all the COP's and loosened all the sparkplugs so I could spray the motorcraft carb cleaner in there and let it sit overnite. Today I went down to the dealer to pick up the nickel antiseize that I had forgotten. On the phone they let me know they had 2 bottles in stock, once I get there though they said they didn't and offered to give me some for free in a small little plastic case. When I saw it though it was a clear gel substance that almost looked like the stuff you put on your battery terminals to keep from getting corrosion. So I asked him to make sure it was the high-temp nickel antiseize from motocraft XL-2. Again he went and checked with the service tech and came back saying that it was. Doubtful I just took what he gave me and went home.
But now I'm wondering and, what is the antiseize supposed to look like? I know the normal permatex antiseize is gray but this clear stuff is making me weary of putting it on the plugs. If anyone's used the motorcraft antiseize can you let me know what yours looked like? Thanks.

Well called a bunch of auto parts stores, no one has any hi-temp nickel antiseize. Finally found another dealer that had the stuff. Yea i think what the other dealer gave me was dielectric grease. Well Anyways I was able to finish pulling all the plugs. And I can definitely attest to the motorcraft carb cleaner working great. 4 out of the 8 plugs were very difficult to get loose last nite. This morning when I went to remove them i didn't even need a ratchet, they came out very easy. Only both passenger and driverside rear were difficult to get loose but they eventually came out. Put the new SP507 plugs i got from Kragen and got everything bolted back together.
Another tip I can say that helped was removing the computer on the passenger side also disconnected some of the electrical connectors that go to the fuel injectors. Total time spent was about 5hrs including the removal and install of all the misc. parts and connections. Man is it a great feeling when you get that last plug out and you didnt have any break.
Now I just need to do a trans fluid flush and get to ordering my rims/tires.
