I lost my gas cap yesterday, and my odometer no says "check gascap". I replaced it but the message didn't go away. How do I clear this? Do i have to disconnect my battery? thanks

Gascap

On my 97 I had a bad seal on the cap. After a day or 2 it went away by itself.

1. It will go away once the OBD-II cycle successfully completes a pressure decay test without a leak.

2. Get a tuner and clear it yourself.

3. Go to an Autozone and have them clear it for you.

Disconnect the battery for about a half hour.

Thanks, I am going to see if it clears itself. If not i will disconnect the battery. I want to avoid that, so i don't have to reprogram my stereo presets.

All of the above assumes that you replaced the cap with a good OEM type that is sealing properly - just give it a couple days or go to Autozone as others mentioned (Autozone will check codes for free, and the checking process clears the codes).
