Different leveling concept

Earlier this year I added the Rancho QuikLift struts to my 2008 SuperCrew. Right after the lift I had 2" of lift and the truck sat fairly level. With some settling and the installation of a supercharger and some other mods, I was only getting 1" of lift over my original height (same tires). The supercharger, intercooler and the larger capacity radiator I added put a good bit more weight over the front end and probably contributed to additional 1/2" drop over the spring settling. So now with 1" lift in the front, I still had more rake to the truck than I cared for.

I recently saw some 1" and 2" drop shackles made by Rough Country. I figured I'd lower the rear an 1" to get it leveled. I installed the shackles at the 1" drop and installed a set of Ride Rite air bags his weekend. I'm pretty happy with the results. The truck doesn't look bad with the stock 32" tires. Before this the truck looked like it needed 33"s, but I really don't need the ground clearance and like my gearing as it is with the 3.73s.

One thing I found problematic with the shackles was there is some strange balancing device on the driver side between the frame and the bed at the end of the frame. It looked like a weight that was suspended on rubber mounts and the upper bolt can only be taken out by lifting the spring up to the space between frame and bed, which doesn't exist on the driver side. I just unbolted the spring from the axle and was able to move it enough to get the clearance I needed to remove the bolt and re-install the new shackle.

If it ever stops raining, I'll get some pictures up. I suppose it may have the stance of a leveled 4x2. If you want to level your 4x4 and don't care to obligate yourself to larger rubber and not use the utility of your 4x4, this might be something you'd want to consider.

Which supercharger did you install?

sounds sweet.
yeah i think that weight thing was to dampen vibrations. someone put up a thread awhile back asking what it was, but it's not on all trucks.

I've seen pictures of what was installed on earlier models, but it looks nothing like that. I'll need to crawl back under and take a pic of that thing. It's not mounted solid either. You can easily move it. I just couldn't move it enough to get the bolt out of the top of the hanger and I tried. It was only on the driver side.

A little hard to see, but this is the supercharger.

It's posted in the supercharger forum. There are some nice setups in a fairly recent thread on pictures of member's supercharged applications.
