Painting wheels

I have an 06 XL 4x4. I have the painted "work" wheels and want something with a little more custom look. My current budget laughed at the thought of buying new wheels so I thought I would paint mine black and put chrome center caps on them. Anyone else done this so I can see what they look like?

Post some pics of your truck up. It all depends on what direction your truck's theme is going.

There is a "How-To" on painting your wheels in the How-To/Articles section.

Fixed your pics! I just saved them and re-uploaded them to my Photobucket to save you the trouble.

Normally I wouldn't be a fan of the black wheels with chrome center caps but you just might be able to pull it off. Some new tires would do wonders, though. They don't have to be expensive, but the stock ones kill the looks.

Yea she is getting new shoes after Christmas too. I am trying to figure out how to do as much as I can without spending $$$ I don't have! I thought I found a set of wheels off a XLT but they were off a 2004 Heritage. I have a bull bar for the front I am going to paint black and put on and it already has the step rails. Then window guards and a bug shield.

I almost painted a set of those, but all you should have to do is prep it really good, take some 300 grit sand paper and scuff em up really well, prime and paint and if you want clear coat

As Jake mentioned, if they are chrome you'll have to strip them down really well before painting. I'd suggest a wire cup drill attachment similar to this. You can find them about anywhere.

they are not chrome, they are painted. I read that thread, looks easy enough. I was really wanting to see if anyone else had done it to see what they looked like. I may have to be the test subject lol
