Clearcoat over STX Sticker?

so i decided today to take off my STX stickers today on my 04. the left one came off with no problem. then i start on the right. it was harder to start than the other one. it did seem that there was a coating over the decal but i thought, it must just be me and there couldnt be anything over it. well i was wrong. i got it off and now there is an indent when the sticker was. the paint is not even. i was wondering how this could have happend. could it have been that the fender got damaged and got repainted? the car fax was clean. or was this done by ford. i dont really think i can do anything fix it without getting it repainted? what do you guys think. it looks like there is just a clear sticker where it once was. has this happened to anyone else.

heres a link to some pics i took for another thread in the detailing section.

It was definetely repainted, may not have been an insurance claim hence no carfax, you'll definetely have to repaint it in order to make it right

i notice it. if you dont know about it you cant really see it until your about 5 to 10 feet in front of it. it just looks like there is a clear sticker there. there is a decent gap between the paint, you really notice it if you run your finger over it.

RandomHero34 where are you at in Cleveland? I had some bad scratches on my hood from a bugshield and megs scratch-x and a cheap craftsman polisher took it completely out. Bring it out here and we'll give it a try, I'm out in North Olmsted BTW

Small world, I grew up in Brook Park, I still have family who lives there.

No shop, just a 2 1/2 car garage full of junk.

Wow who the heck would put clear over a decal!?! When I had my bed resprayed I had insurance give me $50 for new decals because they had to pull one off to respray.
