ABS brake function?
ABS brake function?
Hi all,
I've done a few searches but haven't found the answer, so I'll pose it here:
What is the normal pedal feel/sound when the ABS kicks in? I just got a 2007 F150, with about 32,000 miles on it. Today in the snow, I'm sure the ABS was kicking in, but the pedal had a lot of pulsing/vibrating to it, accompanied with a weird clickty-click sound (like a miniature jackhammer tapping away).
Is that Normal for this truck's ABS to respond like that?
I also have a '95 Mustang with ABS and a '03 Dodge with ABS, and neither have such pronounced vibration in the pedal under ABS and don't have that tappity-tap jackhammer tapping.
The brakes are fine under dry conditions, without vibrations, so there's no reason for me to think the rotors or pads are the problem. There is no trouble light/ABS light blinking or staying lit.

The rapid vibration of the brake pedal is the ABS pulsing the brakes. My truck does it too.
I'm not sure what the clicking noise you talk about it, the pedal does make some noise when it starts pulsing but it isn't a clicking noise.
