painted putco mirror covers

hey i have some of the full mirror cover things that are chrome at the moment and they came on the truck. well i took them off a long time ago when i decided to go for a more blackout look. i was just going to ptm the handle parts of the doors too but one of them is all bent up from where i pryed it off so that's a no go but i might still paint these and see how they look.

has anyone painted to match these mirror covers, not just the caps, the whole covers?

idk about the 06+

but mine 05 mirror covers came off very easily

just push the glass all the way down and in to one side and where the mirror attaches to the motor , they re are 3 or 4 tabs, stick a flat head screw driver in each place where the tabs are, twist the screwdriver and it pops out.

i understood, but i think those covers would look a lil bulky all PTM.

i was trying to say the mirror covers are really easy to take off and you should just paint those

oh ok yeah i thought you just didn't get what i meant. yeah i've thought that they might be too bulky too so maybe i'll just do them pretty cheaply and stick them on the truck real quick since they can be removed in a couple seconds.

the main reason i didn't want to do the actual mirrors was it seemed like a lot of work taking them apart but you said it was pretty easy so i'll probably end up doing that.

also just fyi my chrome handles and buckets are metal but my mirror covers are the chrome painted plastic that you described.

yeah very easy takes about 7 mins on the first one , then once you know what you are doing the second you can get off in a 2 min lol.

if you do a search , you can prolly find a better explanation w/pics

I bought the half chrome mirror caps and I'm not happy.
They are bulky they just look awkward being that they fit over the mirror itself, the edges were a PITA to get painted and not look like doo doo. If I could do it over again, and I prob will next summer I would paint the plastic mirror itself.

yeah they should look pretty cool and if i don't like them then i can just take them off and paint the tops of the actual mirrors since i already have the paint.

thanks, yep it's DSG. the paint is made by duplicolor and it's paint number is T299. for the color it says Dark Shadow Gray. i got it at autozone. i've seen it used on here before for painting the handles and fender flares before and it seems like a perfect match.
