Seatbelt warning tone

Is there any way to turn it off? I do a lot of hunting on country backroads for coyotes. I don't wear my seatbelt because I usually drive really slow and want to be able to get out quick. The beeping sound is killing me. Please tell me there is a way to shut it off.

I hunt some myself, and when i go to the girlfriends dads i have to go by where he stages his cattle and there are 4 or 5 gates i have to go though that are litterly no more the 40 yds apart and getting in and out makes the dinging go off and i just buckle the seat belt and have it behind me and not around me where i can get in and out and not worry about the dinging

Thats not a bad idea. Thanks for the idea. I wonder if there is a way to shut it off completely though that way I don't have to worry about it. It is the most annoying sound ever.

There is a way to shut it off. It should be listed in your owner's manual. It consists of flipping lights on and off, buckling and unbuckling your seat belt several times, you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around...or something like that.

to the best of my knowledge, that is how you do it, but you have to do it each time you start the truck. Its not a permanent change.

The truck didn't come with a owner's manual so I am kind of in the dark about where everything is and what plug is for what.

I did the procedure listed in the Owners Manual on my '06. I did it one time for each seat, Driver and Passenger. It's been like that for about 3 years now.

the tone is very annoying, however if i have a passenger i want it to go off to make them wear their seatbelt so if i was in a wreck and was my fault i can atleast say that everyone had there seat belt on

This procedure is for the driver seat only. If you want to deactivate both seats, they must be done individually and the procedure is slightly different.

Set parking brake. Put gear selector in park. Make sure ignition switch is off, all doors are shut, driver's safety belt is unbuckled, park/headlamps are in off position.
1) Turn the ignition switch to RUN, (do not start the engine.)
2)Wait until the the safety belt warning light turns off (approximately 1-2 minutes.) (steps 3-5 must be completed within 60 seconds of light turning off.)
3)Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 3 times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled.
4)Turn on the headlamps then turn off the headlamps.
5)Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 3 times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled. (after step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for 3 seconds)
6)Within 7 seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt. (This will disable the Beltminder if it is currently enabled, or enable Beltminder if it is currently disabled.)
7)Confirmation of DISABLING Beltminder is provided by the safety belt warning light flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
8)Confirmation of ENABLING Beltminder is provided by the safety belt warning light flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with safety belt warning light off, then again flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
9)After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete.

(If doing the seats individually, omit steps 3-5 and instead, buckle then unbuckle the seat belt 9 times. Then follow the rest of the procedures.)

There is a procedure to permanently turn it off, some thing along the lines of buckle and unbuckle the belt nine times in 60 seconds for each front seat. I don't have the link for the owners manual, but eventually someone who does will post it for you.

BTW you don't have to explain why you want the alarm off, I turned mine off the day I bought it because I don't wear a seatbelt EVER and I don't care what the safety nuts or the law have to say about it.
