Kind of strange noise

Some times while inside my truck with it idling I can hear kind of a low tick sound coming from the dash/engine bay area. That always makes me think it's engine related. I either get out or roll the window down to listen but never hear it outside the truck. I've run the HVAC through every scenario to get it to start or stop to no avail. Any ideas?

It's hard to determine exactly what you're talking about but mine does that sometimes when I'm sitting at drive-throughs or under bridges I tend to notice it. I think it's normal? Who knows if we're talking about the same thing though.

That's usually when I hear it too.

I know my heater makes lots of noise, but thats distinct.

My truck rattles like a diesel in a drive through, the injectors are the cause of that.

Could be a relay?

Sorry I can't help much.

if it sounds like its coming out from behind the cd player, its easy to remove the trim and the cd player, to take a look.

I know exactly what you're hearing. I thought it was my CD player, but I could feel the vibrations in the housing for the evaporator core and heater. It's a bad accumulator motor for the blend door. If you have EATC and your a/c starts blowing hot air out the vents, then this thread will give you your fix.

Raise the hood you'll hear it better. It's normal system ops.

I've had the hood up and can't hear the noise. Also I have the manual hvac in my FX2. Sucks because I was used to the auto HVAC in my Lariat.

The noise is in my heater/ac/fan somewhere. I can turn the system off and the sound goes away.

My hvac fan assembly makes an annoying ticking sound thats very distinct the slower the setting. Mine developed the sound over time. If I shut off my blower the sound goes away. When I get pissed I just turn up the radio. Think I need a new blower.
