Snapping sound in my wheel well.
Snapping sound in my wheel well.
So a couple days ago, I had driven from South Orange County, Ca to Las Vegas. Something like 300 miles in my 2008 Limited F-150. As I got off Interstate 15 and pulled in to the Mandalay Bay I noticed that every couple seconds I had something in what appeared to be my from left wheel well that sounded like plastic snapping in half.
It continued till I finally parked my truck. I left the truck in the parking lot for two nights and then left the hotel to continue to Park City, Ut. Almost the entire 600 miles to Utah, I did not hear that snapping sound once. However, after I arrived I noticed it the snapping sound was back.
At first I thought it was my tire getting ready to fall off, but after almost 900 miles the tire is still there.
Any suggestions?

Don't know but I'd sure put a lug wrench on it to make sure its not a loose wheel.
My step kid..brainiac that he is..ordered a new c/v joint for his car..while he was waiting for it the tire fell off.it was a older audi with the 4 lug vw type wheels. After he replaced the broken studs and torqued the wheel the original C/V type clicking noise was gone..C/V was fine it was his tire coming off..thing is it was doing it for a few weeks..all that time the tire was loose.Since your noise is in the front I guess it would be a good idea to also check the C/V..and ball joints can make a popping when bad.
Might be hard to get an idea over the internet since noises really have to be heard.
Hey...heres a thought..was it the exhaust..more precise the converter crackling..I'v heard that. And it would only be heard when real hot..like after a 600 mile drive ..and sounds can be funny..it could sound like its coming from whatever side your on at the time or window is down?
Good luck
