Plug-n-Play brake controller?

I have an 04 F-150 SCAB with a factory tow pack. The prior owner had a brake controller because I can see where it was mounted. I never looked underneath to see how it was hooked up, but I was wondering if there are any plug and play controllers out there? Or do they have to be spliced into the factory wiring?

Thanks

Brand new trucks with the towing package would have come with a pigtail for a brake controller. It plugged in under the dash on the drivers side. It might still be under there, at the very least there will be a plug on the harness to connect a controller.

if you no longer have the pigtail u can get one from your dealer, the pigtail splices to an aftermarket brake controller, after that THEN its pretty much plug and play. None of the OEM wiring is modified at all.

also when wiring the brake contoller to the pigtail dont try to just match the colors, read the wiring lables and go off of that...dont ask me how i know

Prewired connector cables are available for a variety of brake controllers and vehicles. The Tekonsha Prodigy controller is the one I have and I have seen several sites that sell them with prewired cables that just plug in for an additional fee.

Go to Etrailer.com They have an excellent selection of after market trailer towing accessories and have a link for entering your specific info to link to vehicle specific items

I've got a Prodigy P3, it came with a pigtail that was ready to go, just plug in under the dash. Also, there is a relay you need to make sure is installed in the fuse panel.
