ive driven mine 80+ mph on 200 mile trips in 4 hi (snowy roads) and never had any problem. i probably put a couple thousand miles on my truck at high speeds in 4 hi.

if it was snowy roads, why were you going 80+?

And correct me if I'm wrong but the limited slip is on the REAR axle
im pretty sure the manual says you can shift into 4x4 hi up to 55 mph...

haha because i had 4wd to keep me from spinning out. i know that wouldnt matter if i had to lock up the brakes, but i never did. most of the time it was on long straightaways but on the long trips there were some curvy mountain roads where i had to slow down to 60.

80 in snow is pretty dangerous. but i agree i asked this question over and over again on my jeep forum. the transfer case stuff is spinning inside anyways, you gotta shift into it less than 55 but after that its whatever.

im a firm believer that once you get into it under 55 your good. for whatever speed.

I'm sorry to the original poster but WOW is all I can say.. Its one of the stupidest things I've ever read.. Not trying to be a jerk.. but WOW..

You NEED to read up and learn on 4x4 operation or your going to literally have yourself one totally messed up truck and a very very very large repair bill. Its very important stuff to know cause its a fine line between life and death of a 4x4. You may have already shortened the life of alot of parts to your truck just from what you described.

Sigh... I couldn't agree anymore. It's times like this where it makes me question myself I would ever buy a used 4WD vehicles or high performance vehicles.

Thanks for all of the replies... Actually, I let my wife borrow the truck, and she was driving my two week old baby in it and she felt uncomfortable with the rain, and leaves all over the road. So, I told her to put the 4 wheel high on. I saw her back out of the driveway, and turn the wheel. Thats when I noticed it bind up. Ive had other 4 wheel drive vehicles that never did that. So... i figured this would be ok. It must be a ford thing... my chrysler and cadillac 4 wheel high, never did this. Anyway thanks for the replies...

What caddie did you have that was a 4x4 and not an AWD? If you don't know the difference, search the inter-web and get back to us.
