Question Big Rig/Train horn issue

Ever since i hooked up my big rig kit, I =have had this issue and am wondering how I can fix it.
I have a 275c with a 2.5 gallong tank and a set of horns, it is wired to my truck horn switch

If I tap the horn it sounds great, but if I lay on the horn it drops the sound of the horn as like it is hoarse. I checked my tank and pressure gauge while my wife blew the horn and its not running out of air, it starts at like 140-145 and sounds horrible if held down.

How can I fix this?

wouldnt that just be because you are out of air in the tank?

lol.....duh
you lose air when you honk the horn......and thats why you have a compressor......it fills the tank back up.
imagine blowing through a straw...of course when you start its going to come out hard and fast....but after a few seconds its going to get weaker and weaker until you take another breath.

I thought that sounded right, i didnt know if i misread the question. just get a ten gallon tank and you will be able to hold it for a couple seconds.

1/4 line, it just sounds like it boggs down and its not out of air the gauge is still reading 135+,

It can be full at 150 psi and if I hold the horn down it sounds good for maybe a second then sounds like crap, maybe I do need a bigger tank, but I would think I could hold it down for 5-8 seconds before running out of air

does it matter how far the tank/compressor are from the horn? I have the horns in the front and comp/tank in the tool box.

I think I know what your talking about, I was having the same problem with my old horns. It honks at first, then it starts making a screaching noice, my problem was my air valve, it wasn't opening all the way up, and that was with a 5 gallon tank and it would start screaching after a couple seconds.

I have a 20 gallon tank, and I can blow my horn for almost 20 seconds. If I had a 2.5 gallon tank, it would only be about 2 seconds. Get it? It's also possible that you need a better solenoid valve. Some of them are really cheap. A good one will run you $50 or more.
