Leveling kit question (i tryed search)

I have read that a 06-08 sits a little higher than a 04-05. I have also read that the maximum leveling kit on you should put on a 06-08 is 2.5". Does that mean it would be the same as putting a 3" on a 04-05. Im trying to get as much lift as possible. Thanks for the help.

the newer ones do not sit higher, same springs, shocks everything, if anything the older trucks may have just sagged more...anything over 2" gives you severe angles.

Good rule of thumb. If you want more save up for a suspension lift.

06-08 have less rake than the 04-05's I believe because of a difference in # of leafs in the rear...that what you mean?

correct.

just stay below 3" and you will be fine. we have 2 1/2" on our 06 and 08 for the passed 30k miles on both and still no problems. they sit pretty level, maybe a tad nose high but not much. you will be happy with either the 2" or 2 1/2"

i have also found when doing alighnments that if it has more then 2'' alot of trucks will run out of camber adjustment and be stuck with too much negative camber.

This was true for me. I have a 2.5 inch leveling kit and when I got it aligned for the first time after I put it on, they said that the leveling kit caused me to have to much neg. camber. I just installed an adjustable caster/camber kit to correct the problem. I think it was like $75? dont quote me on that price.

Not too much of an issue though.

this confuses me...camber bolts only make it easier to adjust not give you more adjustment, the only way to get more adjustment would be to notch the lower a-arm holes even further.

Im not exactly sure what it is. I had the shop do it for me. It looks to me to be an adjustable cam bolt in the lower control arm mounting holes. Whatever it did, it fixed the problem.
